Root Peers

PeerZero

Root peers are regular peers that are trusted and help to speed up connectivity. They may be added to the hard-coded seed list in the core package.

Criteria for being added to the core package:

• The IP and Port must be static. It may only be updated less than 1 time per year.
• No spying or bad behavior.
• High uptime. If root peers are not online all the time we delist.
• Must update the Peernet software regularly.
• Contact must be provided (email, real name) to the Peernet organization.

PeerZero

The seed list in the Config.yaml is now versioned and automatically updated when a new binary runs. The auto-update can be disabled by setting AutoUpdateSeedList=true which is useful when you make manual modifications to the list.

Note to all root peer operators: Make sure to backup your private key (stored in Config.yaml)! No changes will be allowed. If you lose your private key you will be delisted permanently.
